Through the last weeks, while we were busy planning for Carnival, happened the main fashion weeks worldwide: Milan and Paris.
I enjoyed the Carnival holiday relaxing, but payed close attention to the fashion agenda, so I could comment on the best moments here for you!
Starting with Milan, Moncler launched a huge collection divided into 8 smaller ones, with were created in collaboration with many top designers, such as: Richard Quinn, Simone Rocha, and Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli.
The idea of this collections was the reinterpretation of the iconic down jaquet, into shapes never imagined before, like architectural gowns.
Fendi’s runway show was a very emotional moment, for it was the last one signed by Karl Lagerfeld, and presented only 2 day after his death. Even with the fresh impact of the sad news and the shortage time, the brand managed to make a beautiful tribute.
On the opening, the guests were surprised by the designer’s sketches over each seat. And the end, the models walked with tears on their eyes to the sound of Heroes, by David Bowie. A moving video was played, celebrating the 54 years that the Kaiser worked at Fendi.
For this last collection, Lagerfeld made an impeccable tailoring, laser cut leather pieces and light feminine dresses. Bright colors popping from neutral nude shades and the nostalgic return of the classic baguette bag.
In paris, Dior’s runways show was a delight for the fashionistas! With the team “Sisterhood is Global”, Dior intensified it’s feminist manifesto, and created a collection which celebrates the modern woman and satisfies her desires and necessities.
The idea was a mixture of pieces, made to be combined and overlapped at will. Jumpsuits, skirts, coats, capes, shawls, pants, t-shirts and bustiers, made from elegant traditional fabrics or new high-tech ones. The references also went from femininity symbols, such as florals, princess like cleavages, tules and sequins, to masculinity symbols, like washed jeans, leather jackets and precise tailoring.
Another highlight from Paris, was Valentino’s runway show. Since the last seasons it’s been the most waited and commented about. This time, Pierpaolo Piccioli collaborated with the Japanese designer Jun Takahashi. The idea was to create a collection more grounded on humanity, so romantic love was chosen as a theme. Poetry books were distributed among the guests, and roses were everywhere to be seen.
To wrap it up, the moving Chanel show, also saying goodbye to Karl Lagerfeld.
The audience received a beautiful illustration featuring Karl and Coco Chanel together, along with the saying “The beat goes on…”. At the opening of the show the Kaiser’s voice was hear to say “It’s like walking on a painting”.
The scenery, always breathtaking, replicated a ski villa. The models came from a hotel, the Chalet Gardenia, and walked over the snow.
The collection was divided into three moments. The beginning, with Lagerfeld’s classic black and white, the middle section with a festival of bright colors, and the end with white angelical outfits.
At the ending, the models walked to the sound of Heroes, by David Bowie, just like Fendi. Between them, the muses Cara Delevigne and Penelope Cruz.
Many special unforgettable moments this season! Karl Lagerfeld leaves a great legacy and will be very much missed.
Bisou, bisou.
